Home > About this site

This site provides basic documentation regarding the Eurpean Union treaties leading to the currently debated Constitutional Treaty, along their various stages. It is hosted by the University of Zaragoza, a partner of the CIDEL Project which offers an Interdisciplinary Doctorate in European Union Studies.

The Constitution of the EU will be the cumulative result of a number of Treaties prepared, negotiated and ratified since the 1950's that have been reformed successively to culminate in the current proposal for a Constitutional Treaty. Leaving aside the "constitutionalising" role of the European Court of Justice, this site provides information on the EU "constitutional politics" --ie. the formal processes of establishing the fundamental and foundational rules for the EU polity.

For questions or comments regarding the content of the site, please contact Professor Carlos Closa.

This site has been designed and edited by Eduardo Jáuregui. Angela Aso has prepared all bibliographies (except where otherwise noted). Mar Martín and Mario Kölling have povided the national constitutional bases for European integration. Mario Kölling has signed also responsible for the information offered in the sites about the ratifiaction process of the Constitution.
