 Two
parallel IGCs were held in 1990-1991. The IGC on Economic and Monetary
Union began on the 13th of December of 1990 at the Rome European Council
and the IGC on Political Union was launched on the following day. They
ended a year later with the adoption of the Treaty on European Union at
the European Council held at Maastricht on the 15th of December 1991 (the
Treaty itself was signed on 7/2/1992)..
