PROCEDURE

The Treaty establishing the European Economic Community and its Annexes and the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community were ratified by the French Parliament on 02.08.1957. The Treaties were approved by 342 votes to 239, despite the opposition of principle of some Gaullists, Communists and Poujadists.

Act No. 57-880 of 2 August 1957 authorising the President of the Republic to ratify: 1. the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community and its Annexes; 2. the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community; 3. the Convention on certain institutions common to the European Communities, signed at Rome on 25 March 1957, dans Journal officiel de la République française. 04.08.1957, n° 180, pp.1-3.
