José Antonio Haro Peralta holds B.A.s in both History (2008) and Arabic Studies (2010), as well as an M.A. in East Asian Studies (2011) from the Universidad de Salamanca. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Universidad de Salamanca, working on a thesis that addresses the urban history of Baghdad from the tenth to the thirteenth centuries under the direction of Rachid El-Hour and Therese Martin. His research interests range from purely economic and demographic history to more broad issues relating to social history. He was a research assistant to Patricia Crone at the Institute for Advanced Study during the summer of 2010.
