International Conference "Negotiating Identity in Migratory Processes"

The International Conference on Negotiating Identity in Migration Processes' focus is related to the concept of identity as a social phenomenon, resulting from constant negotiations among personal conditions, social relationships, and institutional frameworks.

Understanding migrations as dynamic processes, provides ideal conditions to analyze the construction and transformation of social identities in our post-colonial and globalized world. This Conference addresess three major issues related to identity negotiation: 1) Migration policies, 2) Intercultural education, and 3) Gender, cultural and religious differences.

Our goal is to create a forum to establish and strengthen networks among Spanish and international scholars working on migration and/or social identities. Our approach is interdisciplinary in order to promote theoretical and methodological exchanges among speakers and other participants approaching these relevant issues related to the fields of Law, legal and cultural Anthropology, Sociology, Demography, human Geography, Philosophy of Law, Political Science, Pedagogy, and Psychology, among others.
