Seminar: "The territory of Gijón. Excavations in the old tobacco factory of Gijón"

On November 26th, 2010, a meeting of participants in the project was held at the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (CCHS, CSIC). The purpose of this meeting was to clarify the state on the development of the works, and also to present some results for planning the future of the project for the next year.

Participants:

  • Carmen Fernández Ochoa, Fernando Gil Sendino and Paloma García Díaz, directors of the excavations.
  • Yolanda Alvarez, Luis López and Miguel Angel López Marcos, archaeologists and restorers, responsible for carrying out the excavation and restoration parts.
  • Almudena Orejas Saco del Valle, researcher at the CSIC (CCHS) and CONSOLIDER project coordinator: "technology research program for the conservation and presentation of Cultural Heritage" (TPC), because the analytics that are being developed are part of it this project.
  • Arturo Morales and Maria José Luciañez, professors at the UAM, fauna and microfauna.
  • Montserrat Jiménez, professor in the Geology Department at the area of External Geodynamics of the University of Oviedo, responsible for sediment analysis.
  • Armando González Martín, professor at the UAM, anthropological studies.
  • Yolanda Carrión, researcher at the Center for Research on Desertification (CIDE) of the CSIC, in charge of the study of macro plant debris.
  • Sabina Asins from the Centre for Research on Desertification (CIDE) of the CSIC, responsible of sediment studies.
  • Leonor Peña Chocarro, CSIC researcher (CCHS) and TCP member of Project CONSOLIDER responsible of carpological studies.
  • José Antonio López Sáez, researcher at CSIC (CCHS) and TCP member CONSOLIDER Project, plant polen and vegetable imprints.
