Methodology

The methodology used in this research is based on qualitative in-depth interviews. Most of them were conducted in Spain with migrants from Romania, Moldavia, Bulgaria and Ukraine. In the sending countries, mobile citizens were also interviewed when they temporally work in Spain.

On a later stage, interviews with migrant associations and focused groups with migrants will be conducted. Moreover, the fieldwork will include interviews with officers from the border police in Iasa (Romania), together with civil servants in charge of migration policies in Spain and in the sending countries.

Through the qualitative approach, the research brings an important amount of information on the migratory process from Eastern Europe to Spain, on the idiosyncrasy and the life experience of migrants from this part of Europe, but also on their territories and their borders. Once the fieldwork will be finished, the work produced will analyze the discourses of the people interviewed according to a list of key items, in order to understand the mobility between Spain and the sending countries mentioned above.
